It looks beautiful, feels good on the touch and does not appear to affect the sound quality.Keep in mind the unit comes with 6 feet long cables (at best), so you might need to extend those cables depending on the size of your studio.

The Yamaha DJX is the adult version of getting your first toy keyboard, guitar or heck even "My First Sony". If you want to become a DJ or just want to fool around this is the BEST machine on the market. The price and features set it far above any of its competitors. With 700 patterns, 10 effects and 73 scratching effects, it will take you a year to examine the diversity of music that can be made. I bought this machine to add flavour to my guitar and drum tracks. When I took it out of the box I was hooked and can't put it down. A creative individual with limited electronic knowledge will be able hook this up to Midi, or even a 4-track recorder. The instruction manual is a godsent, explaining in immaculate detail how the unit works. It comes with 100 tips which are invaluble as well as software that unlocks even more information. Keep in mind that this is not a pro unit and you will be extremely BLOWN AWAY by what Yamaha has delivered in such a small package.

(More customer reviews)This is a very simple, very clean-sounding volume knob. Not everyone wants to spend $80 on a volume knob, but if you're looking at this product, you probably know why you need it. I have two complaints, but otherwise this is a great product.
1) It doesn't "stay put" QUITE as much as I'd like. It's good most of the time due to the non-slip pad on the bottom.
2) At exTREMEly low volume levels, as you turn up the volume from silence, the right channel comes in just before the left. Don't let this keep you from buying it. I mean at EXTREMELY low levels. I monitor at a pretty wide variety of volume levels when listening to mixes, and I would never actually listen at the low volumes I'm talking about, but it's just enough to bug me a little :)
Overall, good product. I'm sure there are better out there, but not for $79 (that I know of).

(More customer reviews)ive had theese for over a year now(i have them on at least 4-6 hours a day), and i never regret buying them. theyre cheap and durable, have clean sound with Excellent bass playback (for the price..)
They didnt quite fit my ears well, and theyre uncomfortable to wear for people with long-ish hair, so what i did is i retracted them all the way, and i wear them as a behind-the-neck headphones. this way you get MUCH better "grip" with your years, and sound won't "leak out". Tho you might be getting headaches for wearing them for too long first couple tiems.

PROS: Price(seriously.. 30 bucks?). Sound quality. theyre well built(as i said, im using them for over a year now). 1/8 to 1/4 connector! use them with your guitar amp and PC!
Cons: Cord. Its too short. No mic.... not really a con worth removing a star.
Conclusion: They might seem like a pair of cheap and agile 99c store headphones but theyre not. this is a high-quality product for very VERY cheap. If you are on a budget and you need high-quality headphones no need to look further. this product is for you.

Mackie Onyx 1640 16-Ch./4-Bus Premium Small-Format Mixer Review

(More customer reviews)Look, if you're seriously considering a board of this type in this price range, you don't need a recitation of the specifications in a review. What you are more likely looking for is an opinion. Mine is that you have to rate a board in the right context. You wouldn't compare this to a digital studio board, for example, except to show why the markets are different.
The Onyx series board are basically analog live sound boards enhanced in a number of ways making them more appropriate to: 1) pro use, and they see a LOT of pro use, 2) small studio use, and 3) recording use, live or studio. The channel strips on the 1640 have everything you want 95% of the time. The board has tons of headroom. It's very quiet. The faders and knobs are buttery smooth. The build quality is excellent, inside and out.
Forget "Perkins" this and "Boutique" that in the Mackie propaganda. Go listen to the mic pre-amps - they are clean, neutral, and high-quality. Say what you will about the characteristic sound of certain pre-amps, but in my opinion you want neutral when they're in a board and not outboard gear.
The Firewire card works flawlessly - I've never had a single burp from the thing. It delivers a stereo mix for quick and dirty live recording as well as the individual channels.
It's a 4-bus, 6 send design. Plenty, again, for most uses, and obviously very well-suited to any reasonable portable use. There are lots of good reasons to keep the board in the analog domain, even in the studio, but as that's a religious war, I won't jump in except to say that this is analog well done.
Some things I could do without or done differently. DB-25s for direct outs, for example. The rotating pod feature doesn't do anything for me. At some point, something more than 96k on the Firewire board would be good.
Bottom line is that this is a well-positioned, well-engineered, widely-accepted board that is flexible enough to cover a wide range of activities. Unlike many compromise solutions, this one does most everything very well.
