I wanted a bass mic stand that would not topple over with a heavier mic attached to its end. Product was in excellent shape, looks great and is pretty well constructed! The reason I say pretty well is that the piece that connects boom to stand is made of some type of plastic not steel like rest of stand... whatever.. Still works great and is very sturdy. Thank you!

PreSonus Tubepre Single-Channel Vacuum Tube Mic Pre Review

When i first started recording i was using an akg perception 200 and tascam 122L. the 122 is a decent interface but is almost too transparent for its own good. All of my vocal recordings sounded lifeless and detached.
I purchased this inexpensive preamp and found that it certainly did add the subtle harmonics needed to liven up the tone.
I read online that many people thought that while this preamp is decent for the price, merely switching out the stock chinese vacuum tube can really enhance its tone. So I went to G***** C***** and purchased a replacement russian made groove tubes preamp tube and WOW, It really did make a huge difference!(the entire tube switching process took me about 4 minutes, i had never done such a thing before but it was very easy)
So while this is a nice little preamp, a simple $20 upgrade took the quality way above and beyond what you get out of the box.

(More customer reviews)I bought these microphones just before Christmas as a gift for my kids. We finished a portion of the basement as a musical scene with a stage and seating for the audience. They have different types of guitars, violins, flute, drum, keyboards etc. Since we have seven kids aging from 4 years old up to my oldest which is 15, we have 4 girls that really like to sing. Everything goes through a 12 inputs Behringer mixer and Mackie active speaker. Their voice are clear and without distortion. The frequency range is perfect and the feedbacks are minimal. One of the best feature for me is the fact that they are really sturdy. I saw one of the microphones falling to the ground and there was no dent or scratch on the head. I'm quite sure that it happened at other occasion and still no sign of it. In my younger days, I had numerous types of microphones and there is no way that a Shure SM-58 would do a better job than these. I can have 8 Behringer microphones for the price of a single Shure!!!

(More customer reviews)This is my video review of the AT2020 USB microphone from Audio-Technica. USB Microphones are made to be plugged in directly to a laptop or desktop. I connected this to a Vista 64 laptop during filming and did the voice over on a Macbook Pro.

I give this product a 5 star rating. It is easy to use, high quality and very competitively priced. This is a great desktop mic to use for making podcasts or recording music.
I am not a musician so I am not able to speak to that aspect of the microphones ability. I did use it to make several voice over videos and it performed perfectly. Never a hick-up or any spurious noises heard at all.
I did not include specs into my video review because it would add to the file size and be too small to read here on Amazon's video player.

Regular readers of my reviews know I try to supply specs when necessary.

I bought the PG58, and its apparent why that is. Giving little or no feedback at high volumes, the PG58 really owns up to its SHURE name. It has a shockmount inside so the handling noise is barely there. The rugged handle and materials used to build it can take a serious beating. I myself treat my equipment very well, but I know others who use SHURE microphones and DON'T take the best care....and they're nearly indestructible! Bottom Line, great mic for a great price, especially if you buy it on Amazon! So far, its pleased me endlessly, and I'm sure it will continue to do so!

(More customer reviews)This is a great product. I create online training videos and this is ideal. The audio is crystal clear and is easy to use. This is not a light-weight cheapy throw away item if it doesn't work. I am very impressed with the quality.
Caution - Your PC is fully capable of using this as a plug-n-play device. Don't waste your time on the SoftPre software described in the literature as you don't need it. I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed by suspecion that it doesn't work and isn't required.
They do include some great recording software that is not SoftPre, so don't get those confused!

The Blue Yeti is an excellent plug and record USB microphone that has dramatically increased the quality of my voice recordings. It has a solid & sleek build, is easy to use, and most importantly clearly records my voice.
Introduction - Who I am and how do I use this product
My name is Antonio and I own and operate ATailoredSuit.com; I have been using the Blue Yeti since February to speak with clients on Skype and to record podcasts and videos about men's style and custom clothing. Prior to owning the Blue Yeti I used the Blue Snowflake for one year; before that I used the built in microphone on my computer and headsets. For the last 6 months I have been looking at purchasing the Blue Snowball; when this microphone came out I decided to make this purchase instead.
Pros - Things I Love
1.Sound Recording Quality - The most important quality in a microphone; from my limited 30 day use and when compared to the past types of microphones I am used to (Blue Snowflake, Logitech Webcam 9000 Microphone, Various Headset microphones, Built in Computer Microphones) this Microphone beat them all.
2.Plug and Play - I have seamlessly used this microphone on 3 separate computers, one running XP, the other Vista, and on a Windows 7 machine. In each case it was immediately recognized and clearly marked as the Blue Yeti
3.Simple Knobs and Design - Mute, Mode, Headphone Volume and MIC Gain Control. Stand can be tightened and microphone removed.
4.Solid Build - Overall, Solid (One small complaint below). The 10 foot USB cord was a nice touch.
5.Playful Approach - Blue has decided to present the Yeti in a playful manner. They appeal to the creative and make the manual much more approachable for those of us not technically inclined.
Cons - Things I am not happy with
1.Size - It weight 3.5 pounds and stands 1 foot high - I am used to this now, but be prepared for a big footprint!
2.Looseness of Volume & Gain Controls - A small complaint, but for an overall solid device these feel like they will be the first things to break.
Final Recommendation
The Blue Yeti is an amazing microphone that was well worth the investment. It has already dramatically increased the quality of my voice recordings and I recommend it to any podcaster. I give this product 9 out of 10 stars (5 out of 5 for Amazon!), my only knock that the price maybe too high for some.

Shure SM57-LC Cardioid Dynamic Microphone Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great all-purpose dynamic microphone for everything from amps and instruments to vocals, and it's far and away one of the best mics out there in terms of durability (they don't call them the industry workhorses for nothing)/sound/value. This'll blow the socks off those $30 mics.
But what's the difference between the SM-57 and the SM-58? Besides the grill, the main difference is Frequency response. Take a look at the charts in the manuals for both, and you'll note that in the slice of spectrum normally associated with the human voice, there's a boost with the SM-58. This may make your voice sparkle a little more on the SM-58, but if you were planning on possibly micing anything else, it's going to also have a boost in the same range, distorting the original sound slightly.
Plus, if you've got a decent equalizer, you can probably achieve close to the same vocal sound the SM-58 provides with just a little tweaking after the fact.
So, if you plan on using your mic for anything beyond singing, I'd suggest the SM-57 over the SM-58 (even though you may not look as cool holding it). And I'd definitely recommend this little baby over those cheaper models. Unless you need a condensor mic, this is the way to go.
