I purchased this item from Musician's Friends a couple weeks ago. This type of equipment tends to be really expensive, but this one was under $90 bucks and it didn't take me long to find out why; Needless to say the one I got didn't work but that is beyond the point. Warranty is ridiculous, the manufacturer won't even stand by its product. The documentation (which by the way resembles cheap Chinese souvenirs manuals) has more paragraphs listing warranty exceptions than pages explaining the product. Getting customer support is wishful thinking. Bottom line is that if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

As of 9/27/2007 the picture and description is not right. This product is NOT DMX as it is stated to be. The picture is of another laser, this one is in a plastic casing. Do an internet search for Chauvet LGX 3355 and you should be able to find the product you are really getting.

Chauvet Scorpion Sky - Fat Beam Technology Review

I purchased 2 of these for use on a show. Set up was easy and the DMX was easy to navigate. There were some issues. One of them had a DMX plug that was not properly screwed in and came unhooked when first plugged in. They had not put nuts on the back of the small bolts that held it in place. An easy fix but there is secruity tape on every joint that voids the warranty if you open it to fix the problem.
The most disturbing thing was that the brightness of the two units was completely different. One worked great and would throw liquid sky beam 50-60 feet in a dark room with some smoke the other would die after 10 feet or so. This made it impossible to use the two units together. I have read on line that this can be an issue it may be a QC issue.
In all it's a good unit and seems well built and might be good for a mobile DJ who needed just one. I ended up returning both units because I couldn't get the effect I wanted with the one good unit and because of the shipping problem couldn't fix it before the show.
