(More customer reviews)Never in all the 100's of DJ gigs I've played over the years have I ever encountered such a poorly built piece of garbage as the Gemini CDM-3200. Do not, I repeat DO NOT order this product - there are so many things wrong with its design and functionality I hardly know where to begin. First of all, there is no master pitch control on the CDM-3200, so if you increase the tempo of a song, the PITCH will also increase! Simply astounding that such a product is still being made, since the master pitch control function has been around now for a decade or so. That reason alone should be enough to pass up this craptastic monstrosity of a product, but I found many more flaws while using this mixing board/dual CD deck at my 3 different gigs recently (all at one venue - a beautiful place otherwise, just their regular system was in the shop, so this Gemini junk was what I had to make do with).
When you press play, your mix is supposed to start INSTANTLY on the first beat. Not with the CDM-3200 it doesn't! Sometimes there's a split-second pause (which we all know, when you're DJ-ing, can throw you WAY off quite easily) but more times than not, the track would actually start playing a half-second or so after the first beat! So the very first beat would actually be cut off. Simply pathetic. And there's no way to set cue points at all, another major flaw, which made the inconsistency even worse. I used this brand new out of the box, but still around 10-20% of the CD's I tried to play in this unit either didn't register at all ("no disc" error message) or skipped & glitched once they started playing - a giant embarassment for my dancefloor. My CD-R's are all in immaculate condition, and play on any other club's equipment with no problem, so I can only conclude it's the cheapness of Gemini and it's lousy shoddy proudcts.
Honestly, I'm confused at not only why such a poor-quality product was ever made, but also how a company like Gemini is still in business, if this is the kind of second-rate rubbish they put out. I wouldn't pay $20 for this system, much less $200. The CDM-3200 was a complete nightmare to use, from start to finish, and I strongly urge everyone reading this review to look elsewhere, as almost ANY other CD deck would be an improvement over this tragic failure of a product.
