Danelectro DJ-25 Chromatic Tuner Pedal Review

Well, what can I say? I like this pedal for the most part. but the main reason why I bought it was to complete my mini-Dano pedal board. I failed to notice that (or do the research) the pedal does not go into the "silent tuning" mode, like some of the other , not that much more expensive pedals do. There's always room for some improvement.

Danelectro DJ-8C Hash Browns Flanger Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro specializes in inexpensive, funky equiptment with a strong sonic stamp. The Hash Browns flanger provides a delicious analog flanging effect. This isn't a clean, transparent flanger like you might get in a pricier pedal from Digitech and it isn't half as versatile as the legendary Electric Mistress. But it does what it does - and it does it very well. In fact, I prefer the Hash Browns sound to many more expensive flanging effects in rackmounts.
Unfortunately, an inexpensive price also means that the construction isn't very sturdy. This is a tiny pedal that's safest on a desktop or on your bedroom floor. But I wouldn't want to imagine what would happen if you used this pedal onstage. It's so lightweight that if it weren't secured to a pedalboard, it would lift right off! It's also a royal pain to change the battery on this thing - the entire bottom of the pedal must be removed, which is another accident waiting to happen.
I recommend using the Hash Browns for practice or for recording, especially for desktop/home producers. It's got a great, distinctive sound but I wish the pedal were built sturdier!

Danelectro DJ-9 Surf & Turf Compressor Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-9 Surf and Turf Compressor Mini Effects Pedal

If you know how compressors works, you can see that it has two knobs: "Level", which will determine the signal output, either louder for boost, equal for only compression, or quieter for whatever reason. "Sensitivity" on a compressor means it will automatically compress the peak signals and boost the quieter signals - the more sensitive, the greater the compression.
This pedal works great for simply that function: transparent compression. Placed right after the instrument and before other effects, it will keep your peaks from blowing or distorting your sound, and it will keep your signal troughs louder so that you don't have to up the volume. The final product is an even, "big" sound, great for both live and recording.
For specific uses like extra sustain or chicken picken, use another compressor that has specific sustain, threshold and attack settings so you can really adjust your sounds.
