(More customer reviews)This pedal is great for a 'cocked wah' tone in one pedal. If you're not familiar with that tone check out the playing of Mick Ronson or Michael Schenker. The traditional cocked wah technique involves running a wah pedal (Cry Baby, Vox, etc.) into a distortion pedal or cranked amp. Instead of rocking the wah as you play, you find a tone you like with the wah and leave it stationary. If you are looking for a traditional overdrive/fuzz pedal-- this one is not for you. But it is great at its specific duty.

Korg MICROKORG 37 Key Keyboard Synthesizer With 8 Band Vocoder Microphone Bundle Review

(More customer reviews)You know those reviews that say, "If it was stolen I'd buy another?" Well my MicroKorg WAS stolen! I was a proud MicroKorg owner for years when unfortunately someone pilfered it right out of my car.
And as much competition as there is in the market right now for tiny but powerful analog modelling MIDI synths, I came back to the original MicroKorg because it just feels so right.
I will spare you a review of the actual keyboard... you can check out the standalone item if you want reviews of the keyboard. This review is to focus more on the bundle itself.
Pros:
Bundled stand and bag for the same price as a standalone MicroKorg
Bag bears Korg logo, is very nice quality for a free bag
Cons:
Keyboard stand is universal X style frame, with an adjustable bracket in the center that widens the X. There are 5 different settings for height and width but 3 of them are too wide to hold the MicroKorg. The only two settings that work bring the micro korg up to belly button and then armpit level when standing so forget about using this stand and sitting in a chair.
Other thoughts:
I have owned this synth for 5 years since it was new and even today I will listen to the radio and hear a preset from this synth on a recording. Gorillaz, Mates of State, Chromeo, Crystal Castles, LCD Soundsystem, Metric, Royksopp, and lots of struggling indie bands just to name a few.
This should tell you that the sounds are not faddish! For being a digital modelling synth it comes as close to recreating a fat analog sound as any setup that costs thousands of dollars more. Plus it is small enough to slip in a backpack for shows... if you've ever had to lug around an actual vintage analog synth or organ, it's well worth the tradeoff! You lose nothing in quality and gain so much in portability and accessibility. Buy it!

So I know quite a bit on synthesis, and wanted to expand my programming skills. Also, I needed something that I could jam out on with friends, etc. For the price I got,this is the perfect entry level synth. It's not too hard to program, but it has a lot of features that higher level synths have. It has pretty much everything you could want for a synth, and even a micro-sequencer. Personally, I prefer just using it as a synthesizer and sequencing on my computer. The one thing about this synth that is bad, is the vocoder. For me, the vocoder presets were just not good enough by themselves. I had to do a lot of tweaking to get them to sound good. Not to mention, for every vocoder patch, I had to get the analog gain wayyyy higher than it was set. Otherwise, no sound would come out of the synthesizer. Besides that, this is a great synth and for the price right now, a definite one to consider if shopping for one.

Korg MONOTRON 16-Key Synthesizer Review

First of all, it's just a lot of fun to use. It very well might be the funnest and most carefree synth of I've ever used. Second, for the size and features, it's just a great value--the filter is awesome, and the type of sound you can get out of this little thing is very surprising.
Now, the onboard speaker output can be a bit noisy; however, it isn't bad, and it's very easy to get around that and keep a good quality sound by using aux. input and output with an audio interface (I'm using the Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP), just make sure you get the proper cables and adapters and use it as a line input. The aux. input is a great feature, letting you route audio into the unit to make use of the filter--I imagine this is what many people will use this for. Also, the unit is great for circuit bending (see youtube...) and is quite an adaptable machine (and at this price, you can afford to make a mistake during a hack, although with how quickly they sell, it may be a bit before you can get a replacement...).
Now, since it is a ribbon controller, it's best suited for glissandos and fx, not really for melody--however, it can be great for a bass part. Add external fx processing (delay lines, reverb, and granular synthesis are especially fun) and you start to see what a little beast this thing is.
Get one. And then a second.
