Sony Acid Music Studio 8.0 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Your level of creativity is the only limit with this great value program.
I downloaded the FREE trial of this software from Sony Creative Software and mucked around with it for a whole month, to see if it would do the things I wanted. I am using Acid Music Studio 8.0 to create sound effects and soundtracks for my YouTube videos and my multi-media video artwork.
This program would suit the home musician or the musician just starting out with a limited budget who would like a professional program to record and mix their music.I warn anyone who is creative, that this software is Highly Addictive. You can spend many, many hours exploring all the inbuilt synthesizer preset programs and tweek them with an infinity of different settings contained within the Fx Effects chains.
You can also use the 3.5 Gigabytes of loops and samples that come with the "purchased copy" (not available with trial), to construct your own music in just a few clicks.
Please note something once you have downloaded the "loops & samples":
In the explorer view tab of Acid Music Studio, make sure you click the View button and tick all options - especially tick "Show All Files", otherwise you may freak out and think that you can't access the loops and samples.
This is a MIDI file based program, actually a very large part of the program. So if you want to make the most of using Acid Music Studio 8.0, then get a MIDI to USB connection so that you can connect a Synthesizer Keyboard to your computer. If you do this, you gain amazing control of the program and can control the inbuilt synth on your computer.
You will have to be patient in learning how to set things up, if working with connected instruments. There are a lot of little settings that have to be set just right for the sound & MIDI files to communicate in both directions. There is a fairly good Help file which will teach you how to do things, but as they say: Rome wasn't built in one day!
This product really seems to have hit the mark this time with Version 8.0
I use it with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10 production suite and it works just fine.
I'm not a musician, just a novice.
Whether you are a novice or a musician, I'm sure you will love this program.
Ridiculous value for money - honestly.
I hope this review can help out a little bit.
Regards Dex.
P.S. I had problems downloading from Sony once, however my Customer Support Request was answered immediately and the problem was resolved in just a few hours.

NCH Software Sound Studio (includes WavePad audio editing software, MixPad, Switch sound file conversion software, RecordPad and Zulu DJ software) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)For the novice or professional audio engineer needing multi-track recording...the combination of WavePad Audio Editing Software, Switch Audio File Converter, MixPad Multi-track Recording Software (Record and mix multiple audio channels), RecordPad Sound Recording Software, and Zulu DJ Software (audio mixing) adds up to over 200 dollars if you were to purchase each software program separately. I would spend more than 60 dollars just for MixPad. It has more functionality than a 64 channel recording console I used many years ago without the hassle of figuring out the `rats nest' of patches. MixPad is the digital replacement of using a multitrack recorder and mixing console.
MixPad will accept clips previously recorded or accept live recording through a sound card. The number of channels you can use is only limited by your imagination. Each track can be muted, soloed, paned left or right, have individual volume adjustments, set audio options, clips placed at different times, and my favorite...applying effects like amplify, chorus, compressor, distortion, echo, flanging, high-pass filter, or reverb. You can apply effects live before you commit them to your tracks for quicker and greater ease of use. You can also transfer a tracks to WavePad and back to MixPad for additional audio editing and functionality. MixPad also comes with a built in CD ripper and burner that makes it easy to create remixes and give them to your friends.
MixPad Features from MixPad's Help File:
* Driver support for ASIO, DirectSound, MME.
* Unlimited tracks.
* Pan and volume envelope automation.
* Intuitive, simple graphical interface.
* Independent volume, pan and effects for each track.
* Independent audio input and output routing for each track.
* Supports a large number of file formats including wav (multiple codecs), mp3, ogg, flac, vox, gsm and many more.
* High accuracy for precise mixing.
* Drag and drop existing files straight into the work area.
* Includes a CD ripper to load audio directly from an audio CD.
* Includes a high quality sound recorder which supports autotrim and voice activated recording.
* Integrated with Wavepad sound editor so you can conduct advanced editing on your files without having to save your files in between.
* Solo and mute feature on each track.
* Add multiple chained effects to each track.
System Requirements from NCH Software's website:
* Works on Windows Vista 2000/XP/2003/2008/7
* For earlier Windows versions (98, ME) please click here
* Mac OS X 10.2 or later
* Sound support on your computer
* CD burner [optional]
For the easy to use interface, features, price, and overall huge value, I give NCH Software Sound Studio Suite by NCH Software the highest marks.
