(More customer reviews)Very similar to another pinspot costing twenty bucks from Amazon, and the bulb is the same generally used for this type of light. However, the mounting bracket on this one is thin and weak (mine arrived very bent up). The product description, and meager instructions, claim that it has a fuse, but that is not correct. There is none externally accessible and I disassembled mine to verify that there is no internal fuse either. This could be a problem in some situations, and I will be adding a fuse to mine.
This light contains a 6V lamp running off a transformer, which means that it presents an inductive load. The description claims that it will work with dimmers, but be careful--some dimmers can be damaged by this type of load. In general, dimmers are designed to work with the purely resistive loads, and this light won't work with my light controller. It blows controller fuses within seconds, even though the controller is rated at 15 times the power drawn by this light. Since this light doesn't contain its own fuse, that's rather risky for the controller. So, before connecting this to a controller, verify that the controller is rated for inductive loads.
Otherwise, this is a perfectly adequate light for use with mirror balls, and it accepts standard PAR36 color filters. It's easy to cut your fingers on the sharp metal of the difficult-to-remove screw cover that holds the filters (and allows lamp replacement), but presumably you won't have to do this very often. At the current price (circa twelve bucks) I'd buy this product again, even knowing its limitations. But unless you're willing & able to add a fuse yourself, I'd recommend selecting a more expensive version that's already fused (search for "ETL approved pinspot").
