(More customer reviews)I recently purchased a Seismic Audio 2-12 Speaker Cabinet to mount a couple of Eminence Legend 12 inch guitar speakers I had laying about. The cabinet was made of birch plywood with an orange tolex finish and a black grill and hardware. The cabinet comes with two jacks associated wiring and spade connections. This allows a number of speaker wiring combinations. I set mine up in parallel, that is two 8 ohm speakers wired + to + and - to - then to the jack for a 4 ohm installation over all. The jacks feel good when you plug into them and the wiring was well done.
The speaker installation was simple. I placed the speakers in the cutouts and centered them. I drilled small pilot holes and screwed in stainless pan head sheet metal screws to hold the speakers in place. If you look closely with the grill installed you can see a little sparkle from the pan heads inside. Make sure you orient the speaker lugs so you can get to them easily; there is an access slot in the back of the cabinet. Less hassle if you ever want to change your wiring around.
I fired this puppy up today and was pleased with its sound. The cabinet is an opened backed and I expected it to be a little lacking in low end thump. I was pleasantly surprised. You can play it clean or as dirty as you like, and it hung in there without coloring the tone. The slight upward rake to the speaker deck is a nice touch that lifts the speaker projection off the floor. What more can you ask?
The fit and finish was very good and the cabinet was solid though a bit lighter in weight than I expected. I am pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone.
