(More customer reviews)Yes, I concur with the previous reviewer: this is by no stretch a Boss Octave pedal. The disappointing feature (or lack thereof) is the fact that is not a truly polyphonic synth-er. Therefore, you're limited to single notes, unless you like playing mud. However, what the Chili Dog has going for it is a really decent sound (it's not bad at all actually), a cool color coding (boss and Dano have a good concept here) and name, not to mention a substantially lower price tag. You get the essential sound you need for a good ninety dollars less than you'd have to dish out for the Boss model (yes, the boss is better, but hey, I just use this for lead-like works and crazy rhythm sounds). I played this through a Laney combo (disgustingly beautiful sounding amp) with some gain, and man, this thing actually WAILED. Yes, it seems the lower freqs tend to mud up a lil', but you can work around that. Construction is good ol' dano plastic, but seems durable enough. Switched just fine an' the bypass ain't too bad even. Overall, if you can't afford the Boss Octave generator, or even the MXR blue Box is to rich for you're pauper blood (Hey, I know the feeling), give this sucker a whirl. It's a good enough substitute at least until you want to spend that extra t-bill. Oh, yes, and unlike some octave pedals ( la the Blue Box), which add fuzz effect to the signal, keep in mind this one does not. All in all, a worthy pedal, like the French toast (those two go hand in hand). Cheers.
