(More customer reviews)I purchased the Numark V7 from Amazon (after confirming with Numark that Amazon itself was an authorized Numark distributor and my 1 year warranty would be honored) a few weeks ago, after determining that they were offering the lowest price on the internet for this product.
I've had an opportunity to put a few hours on the unit and thought I should share my thoughts. As someone who has played strictly vinyl for the past 10 years, I really think that Numark has done an excellent job in designing this product and here's why:
-Build Quality. Numark really upped their reputation when they released the NS7 and now the V7. The unit screams quality with an all metal enclosure and brushed anodized black aluminum finish. It weighs ~16 pounds and feels very solid.
-Feature Set. It seems like they really listened to actual working DJs when determining the features to include. On one hand you have the traditional elements of the motorized platter and real vinyl feel, on the other hand you have the advanced loop and cue controls provided by interfacing with Serato ITCH.
-Easy to use and just fun. Despite having 35 buttons, 5 knobs, 2 switches as well as a pitch slider and effects slider, the controls are layed out in a logical fashion, and the integration with ITCH is seamless. Using the V7 is effortless, and the feel of cueing the track as you would on a traditional turntable is wonderful.
I had no stability or latency issues on my machine running Windows XP SP3 on an E8400@3ghz and 4gb RAM. A note to Windows 7 64 bit users: Numark's Windows 7 64 driver is still listed as "Beta" on their website, this might be worth taking into consideration. That being said, I have to say that I've been impressed by Numark's tech support. I exchanged a few emails with them and got responses in under 12 hours, and it turned out it wasn't even about an issue directly caused by the V7 - they were still happy to help!
For anyone looking to add a digital aspect to their setup, I highly suggest considering the V7. The motorized platter is a must for turntable purists looking to keep that tactile response that a spinning piece of vinyl provides. I have absolutely no buyer's remorse whatsoever and I'm really satisfied with the V7.
