(More customer reviews)I purchased this sequencer because I DJ quite a bit and needed something that would turn on my power amps and devices one at a time so that they do not draw too much current at the same time and trip any breakers. The sequencing part works fine, but there are a few CONS.
1) There really is no convenient on/off switch, there is a bypass button in the front but it is receded into the casing so you would need to poke a small pin or object in there to bypass the power. So pretty much once you plug it in, it turns everything on.
2) It is 1U which is nice and another reason for me purchasing it. The problem though is that the feet that come pre-attached to this unit are not able to be removed from the outside. Even after you remove the cover (which voids the warranty) and remove the feet, there is also a separate bolt that holds the transformer to the chassis that extends beyond the bottom of the chassis.
I had to pretty much take apart the unit, remove the feet, remove the bolt that holds the transformer in place, put a washer on the top of the transformer to prevent the bolt from protruding through the bottom chassis. And even doing this, it barely cleared so I could mount it into my rack. You also run the risk of shorting something whenever you do something like this because now the washer sits on top of the transformer so it grounds the transformer to the metal chassis. I did make sure that the washer did not touch anything that it was not suppose to and since the transformer is "circular" it did fit just above it without shorting anything. However, if you are not too familiar with electronics or comfortable with taking devices apart this might not be the one for you.
I wanted to save a few bucks so I purchased this item without seeing any reviews, because there weren't any. If I could do it again, I would buy a Carvin power sequencer and power conditioner. It has an on/off switch and it is programmable so you can decide what to turn on and off, it also works as a power conditioner to take out unwanted electrical noise from the provided "house" electrical. It is about twice the price of this device though but taking into consideration the time it took to get this to mount inside a rack and the potential shock risk hazzard, the Carvin is a much better buy.
In conclusion, this item would work fine for a stationary DJ or sound system that is not rack mounted. However, if you need a rack system you can find a better unit out there. AudioSavings is a great company too, I would like to add. I have purchased from there both on Amazon and on ebay. They have the best prices, fast shipment, and great customer service. I would highly recommend them.
