Danelectro DJ-17C Delay Mini Effects Pedal Review

Great little pedal for delay. Not a lot of fine tuning controls but enough to get it right without too many complicated knobs. If you get this you won't need the slap echo or reverb of Danelctro because the short delay sounds exactly like them.

I could not believe the difference this little piece of equipment made in the over all sound that is now coming out of my sound system. It really expands the sound, and adds great low end to my sub woofers, and just adds a great dimension to the overall sound. I highly recommend this product to any DJ who wants to dramatically improve their system. Very affordable as well!

Danelectro DJ-21C Black Coffee Metal Distortion Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-21C Black Coffee Metal Distortion Mini Effects Pedal

I bought this used at a local music shop for cheap. It provides distortion that sounds a little heavier than my Danelectro standard Distortion pedal, so I guess it does what it should?
I tend to favor this one, even though I bought the other new.
It seems durable enough, and opens easy enough as well. But, on the other pedal which is essentially the same parts, the screw to remove the back plate is beginning to strip since it's only plastic. It's not the most durable screw, but as long as you don't tighten excessively, you should be able to keep it in good condition.

BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer Review

BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer
Average Reviews:

The manufacturer states that this unit improves phase and amplitude integrity of the final signal which we call Sound. I can say that in my professional studio there is a Presence or Naturalness in the final product which was absent before. I am happy with this device.

The BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer is the most popular of the BBE line of SONIC MAXIMIZERS'. With the patented BBE Process, music has a great "live presence". Unlike some "exciter" devices which add artificial harmonics to the signal, BBE adds nothing artificial but instead restructures it to faithfully allow all the detail and nuance to be heard. Highs frequencies are clear, naturally brilliant and finely detailed. Lows are tight, well defined and harmonically rich.Electric and acoustic guitars have sparkle, clarity and definition. BBE brings out the harmonic complexity so each note of a chord becomes more distinct. Electric & acoustic basses take on a rich, earthy "CD" sound. BBE yields extremely tight, punchy bottom end without sacrificing the presence, clarity and bite on the top end. Keyboards and synthesizers take on new realism. Percussive and plucked sounds are clear and sharp; chords are rich and full-textured with each note in the chord retaining its integrity.Vocals cut through the amplified instruments so you're no longer "buried in the mix". Sound contractors know that vocal intelligibility is paramount to a successful PA installation and client satisfaction. No other audio processor brings natural clarity and crisp definition to the spoken word like BBE does. That's why BBE Sonic Maximizer processors can be found installed in PA systems ranging from the massive network in New York's JFK airport to the thousands of houses of worship around the world.Recording studios use BBE on individual tracks, mixdown, and of course in mastering. Mixes with BBE are fresh and sparkly, restoring instrument clarity and vocal intelligibility without appreciably adding level. BBE improves effect processing by expanding the spatial dimension of stereo reverb and chorus. Whether in an individual instrument rack or across a full mix, BBE makes a dramatic improvement in the quality of effects and neutralizes their tendency to muffle instrument and vocal characteristics.

Well, what can I say? I like this pedal for the most part. but the main reason why I bought it was to complete my mini-Dano pedal board. I failed to notice that (or do the research) the pedal does not go into the "silent tuning" mode, like some of the other , not that much more expensive pedals do. There's always room for some improvement.

Danelectro DJ-16 Bacon & Eggs Mini Amp/Distortion Effects Pedal Review

First of all, I took it out of the box and the thing actually smelled like bacon! Right there I had to give it xtra points. I think it's the paint they use but unintentional or not I was pretty impressed - Danelectro delivers again...
This thing is tiny, about 1/2 the size of any other pedal I've ever seen. I have a Danelectro Fab Flange which is a relatively small pedal and this is about 2/3 the size. I like how it's so small because I got it mainly so I can have a portable amp, I just didnt expect I would be able to put it in my pocket...
When u first look at this thing u think how loud could this tiny little amp actually be - pretty frickin' loud. I don't know how they got so much sound out of the speaker in this thing I opened it up and the speaker itself is like an inch and a half across.
Needless to say I am very impressed so far by this little creation - It seems pretty solid so I hope it's roadworthy - we'll see. I gave it 5 stars w/o first testing its durability only because I cant believe it actually smells like bacon...I mean, c'mon that's just ridiculous...

I've said it before about Dano Pedals, and I'll say it again. You WILL get a great Bang for your Buck. I've been doing shows using exclusively Danelectro products, and EVERY show I've ever played, people come up to check out my pedals because they can't BELIEVE the sound you get from 'em! You wouldn't think that like, a $20 overdrive can add so much kick, but it DOES!! I play both bass and guitar and the kick you get from it is just more than you expect.

Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler Review

Korg KP3 Kaoss Pad Dynamic Effects Sampler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
first thing, i am no where near a pro with effects and recording equipment, that said, i have a long history with korg, and know from exp they make really good effects and at good prices. this machine is addictive. i want to let potential buyers know what you can do with the kaoss right out of the box, with about 20min w the manual. so it is basically an effects processer, instrument(drum machine and synth) and a sampler(w 4 banks a-d) i have a 400 disc player, and ran the rca through the korg line in, and line out into a 8 track digital recorder. and its just fun. i hit random play, and rarely get past the first 30 seconds of a song. the kaoss makes it very easy to sample any line in, and loops them, you can use up to 4 at a time, and you can save your fav samples on sd cards (2gb max, which you can buy on amazon for 7$,i like kingston) thats just the beginning, once you get a sample or samples, you have a hundred dif effects(phaser, grain, delays, re-verb common effects and sounds in the korg library) so you get a sample, you loop it back and you can manipulate it in a infinite number of ways. it also has bpm, a feature that syncs the beats in the machine to music from the line in, so it does the timing for you, and the beats loop in increments(4,8,16} the touch pad(which is huge) act as the knobs on effects and synths. so the clip its playing changes with every move of your finger. , every time you change the effect it opens a new world of the same sample.
now the drum machine and synth, there could have been more banks here and less effects, but some i imagine would say the opposite. i very much like that it loops seamlessly, and you can change the measures, but not as versatile as traditional drum machines. the touch pad responds very well, though when you tap faster as in a drum roll, it will hold up, but the sound is more in the held position anyway.and its somewhat user friendly, i say that cause i hate manuals, i just like to play, so i have figured out about 20% of this machine, and still i cant help to smile just looking at it. i have been looking into samplers for 15yrs and this is the least expensive, most fun, and easiest to use machine i have ever seen. . i, you can be silly, serious, either way it will impress(it will process anything w rca jacks, so there is no limit, there is allot of rhythm in the most common tv shows, radio programs, even the worst lp has sumthing sweet korg gives one year warranty,
update drum machine and synth work welly well w my microkorg, play one w your right and other with the left hand, ,my guitar through the mic input is really cool, you press hold on the effects, and you can change the sound completely after each riff, not so good w my bass, distorts at low levels

Danelectro DJ-13 French Toast Octave Distortion Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-13 French Toast Octave Distortion Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased one of these a few years back after hearing how amazed others were with the sound of the French Toast.
Mind you, it's not a pedal you'll use every day, but for the money, it comes REALLY close to matching the Foxx Tone Machine. It's got a pretty good fuzz going with a really great up-octave effect at the same time.
If you do double-stops, you'll get a really nice ring-modulator-ish effect.
This pedal will give you taste of some of Hendrixes tone, all you need to add is the talent. :)
Now that the nice things are out of the way, I'll discuss the not so nice things. It's cheap. Be careful not to break it.
Really.
Don't expect to be able to abuse it or kick it around the stage. If you're not careful, when you're stomping (funny how people tend to stomp on these things), you could break off a knob.
I've had mine a few years and haven't managed to break it yet. Your mileage may vary, yadda, yadda...
Bottom Line: I'm pretty happy with mine.

Danelectro DJ-14C Fish & Chips 7 Band EQ Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-14C Fish and Chips 7 Band EQ Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For a long while I resisted the notion of pedals or effects of any kind. "The amp should and guitar should do it all," was my line in the sand. And, truth be told, I DON'T think effects should carry the lion's share of the 'sound' burden.
That said, there are things a lot of stock rigs aren't capable of doing. Many (most) amps don't have tremolo, so if ya want it, it's stomp box time. Many amps suffer from poor 'verb or no verb, especially the smaller, coveted Fender variety. So... another box is necessary. And so forth.
A 7 band eq? How does that fit into the configuration? Isn't that tone-queer territory, where one pores over sonic minutia forvever and never really gets things dialed in? And besides, the concept is so seventies. I didn't get it, or maybe didn't want to.
I purchased the Fish and Chips largely out of curiousity, born out of rave reviews about it. Let's face it: an eq doesn't quite produce the 'tingle' that a cool 'verb box does. But for the price, it was worth a try. Boy, was I in for a pleasant surprise.
This little box can breathe new life into ANY rig. I own (among other things) a Silvertone 1484 and a Fender Pro Jr. Both possess a certain old school charm, but as such, are limited in their usefulness. With the F & C in the front of the chain, the sonic latitude of these amps is increased at least 10 fold. I never knew my various axes could yield such appealing, PRO sounds. And with the level on the F & C at just about half mast, the gain is boosted significantly and quietly. I can gig anywhere, in any musical situation with the little Pro Jr. now, and that's good news for an aging jobber.
Ya don't to be a sound engineer to get busy with this thing. I would guess that within 10 minutes, even random tweaking will get a rig just about where it needs to be. Again, if the goal is to get more, a lot more, sound potential from your stock rig, this is one very inexpensive way of doing it. High marks for Dano on this one.

Danelectro DJ-20C Rocky Road Spin Speaker Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-20C Rocky Road Spin Speaker Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
No other way to put it: this thing is WONDERFUL. An ex mother-in-law gave me a cheap "synth" sometime back..."last century," and while just looking that the thing brought to mind the adjective "tacky," still, the "tones generated" by the thing were far superior to the old used Yamahas that I'd been scooping up at pawn shops. But "you get what you pay for" is a truism: while I could make cute little synth bleeps and squeaks, I couldn't get a decent "organ" sound out of any of 'em. The Dano Rocky Road Spin Speaker pedal changed all that. While my Casio STILL doesn't sound like a Hammond B3, it, at least, can "approximate" a sort of, uh, "Hammond X-Y-Or Z3" now. And, joy of joys, my guitar player and I can sit down at gigs and play Keef's leslie'd guitar riff on that Stones' Exile On Main St song, "Let It Loose" now perfectly. I love Dano products more and more every time I use any of their stuff, and I can't wait till I can save 4 bills and treat myself to a Dano Bass. But until then, I won't have to worry about investing in a "legitimate" synth, Leslie,or a Hammond now, because the Rocky Road Pedal's really done the work for me.

Danelectro DJ-12 Chili Dog Octave Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-12 Chili Dog Octave Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yes, I concur with the previous reviewer: this is by no stretch a Boss Octave pedal. The disappointing feature (or lack thereof) is the fact that is not a truly polyphonic synth-er. Therefore, you're limited to single notes, unless you like playing mud. However, what the Chili Dog has going for it is a really decent sound (it's not bad at all actually), a cool color coding (boss and Dano have a good concept here) and name, not to mention a substantially lower price tag. You get the essential sound you need for a good ninety dollars less than you'd have to dish out for the Boss model (yes, the boss is better, but hey, I just use this for lead-like works and crazy rhythm sounds). I played this through a Laney combo (disgustingly beautiful sounding amp) with some gain, and man, this thing actually WAILED. Yes, it seems the lower freqs tend to mud up a lil', but you can work around that. Construction is good ol' dano plastic, but seems durable enough. Switched just fine an' the bypass ain't too bad even. Overall, if you can't afford the Boss Octave generator, or even the MXR blue Box is to rich for you're pauper blood (Hey, I know the feeling), give this sucker a whirl. It's a good enough substitute at least until you want to spend that extra t-bill. Oh, yes, and unlike some octave pedals ( la the Blue Box), which add fuzz effect to the signal, keep in mind this one does not. All in all, a worthy pedal, like the French toast (those two go hand in hand). Cheers.

This compressor does its job. At first there was allot of noise, then I turned down the level to about 9 o'clock and the sustain could be turned to between 1 and 2 o'clock and now it sounds good. It did take some time to get the quality sound without extra static, yet it does what a compressor is supposed to do.

Danelectro DJ-6 Pepperoni Phaser Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-6 Pepperoni Phaser Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: Nice swooshing sounds, almost similar to but not quite like a chorus. Set with a low rate and depth, it gives an almost passable substitute for an acoustic tone. When paired with a distortion, it makes the crunch so much nastier. Increase the depth for a nice semi-alien tremolo effect.
Cons: Don't put the rate too high unless you're into spaceship sounds. Also make sure the battery is perfectly fresh, otherwise it will make an annoying screeching sound when it dies. Needless to say, rechargable 9volts or an adapter would be a worthwhile investment. The battery drain is the only thing that really keeps it from being 5-stars.

Danelectro DJ-5C Tuna Melt Tremolo Mini Effects Pedal Review

Danelectro DJ-5C Tuna Melt Tremolo Mini Effects Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a very retro/roots oriented guitar player, and I had been wanting a tremelo for a long time, so when I heard about this, I got one. Have not been disappointed. Classic 50's/ 60's shiver, from Bo Diddley and Duane Eddy to CCR(you WILL play Born on the Bayou over and over again for hours when you first get this thing. Trust me). I compared this to many more expensive trem pedals, such as the Boss, but overall, this thing wins hands down. I also compared it to the tremelo on a friends '66 Fender Vibro Champ. The Vibro Champ sounded a bit more warm and buttery, due to it's trem circuit being all tube, but this thing comes DANG CLOSE. I don't know that you could really tell the difference between the two unless you were listening for it. It's easy as pie to use. It has two knobs: rate and depth, and a hard/soft switch. The soft setting is more of a classic Fender trem sound, while the hard setting is more a complete on/off effect, like a Vox's tremelo. The hard setting is probably not one you're going to be using much. However, if you're looking for the sound that Johnny Marr got on the Smith's "How Soon is Now" or something like that, then the hard switch will help you get there. The only downside to this pedal is the same as with all Danelectro mini-pedals: its small size and plastic construction. I've not had any failures yet, but if you're not careful and you stomp on this thing like an idiot with your size 13 boots, it WILL break. Treat it well though, and act like a sane human, and it will probably last you forever. If you gig with this you're probably only going to use this for one or two songs in a set anyway. But, if you're going after a vintage vibe, this is essential.
