Remo Djembe Drum - Key Tuned (12 Inch, Earth Finish) Review

This drum was recommended to be by a local drummer. It was also described to me as modern and easy to care for. I am so very pleased with the sound and the range of notes I can get from this drum. Also a tag was attatched that explains its made out of recycled material. Very cool. The picture is pretty acurate as far as how it looks. It has a semi-rough feel to the outside and is very earthy and lovely in real life. I can't imagine anyone not being delighted if you like what you see in the picture. Also I live in the mid-west and this type of drum will tolerate the several climate changes we go through here.

Remo Djembe, Multi-Mask 24x12 Inch Review

REMO is a great brand and very reliable-
this Djembe in particular I've owned for quite a few years; it's sturdy and it's gone through many a catastrophe (road trips, drum circles, gigs, friends and kids trying to hit a beat on it)... it's still in great condition
Also, I really enjoy the sound of the 12 inch. It's in a very nice medium range, but you can still get amazing bass and tenor tones.
As far as portability, it's not THAT heavy but for traveling you might be better off getting a djembe carrying case (fits on like a back pack, I'm pretty sure REMO makes them specifically for their djembesj)...
And it's aesthetically pleasing- the variation of tribal designs are connotative of their African derivative and culture.
All in all, these djembes (at any size) are a great buy for percussionists playing at any level...
You'll know it's worth it the very first time you play it.

Nice item if you want something to play around with-with your family and friends..like a nice little jam session. Not a serious instrument for professional play (would be to small..but you could make it happen) Kind-of like small conga drums..great for talent shows, small performances, jam sessions, practice, or for a child interested in percussion instruments.

Remo Djembe Fossil Fantasy 24x12 Inch Review

Remo Djembe Fossil Fantasy 24x12 Inch

I'll start with the fact that I don't play drums, I just act like everyone else who loves tapping stuff with their hands to a random beat. I have played guitar for a while, so I'm not new to music. I just wanted to add some variety out here in Iraq while deployed since there are other musicians in my unit.
This drum is compact (relative to a drum set), but it has great tone. The bass has some punch to it and as you move away from the center, the tones get sharper. If you're looking to add a little beat to an acoustic guitar, this is fun and simple but over time, can get as complex as you want. Just be sure to leave some air space between the bottom of the drum and the floor. A slight cant also allows the sound not to bounce back into the drum.
I love the look of this Remo Djembe, the fossil pattern is cool and the Remo seal is nice and shiny. The attached sling is nice and sturdy but I prefer playing it sitting down.
I wouldn't know how to tune a drum, but I'm glad they made it that easy too. All in all, this was a great investment to have some fun while out here.

Remo Djembe Drum - Key Tuned (16 Inch, Earth Finish) Review

This drum has some serious depth and rich tones. The construction takes a beating and is not affected by temperature and humidity like a wooden one I just sold. Worth the cash to go with the 16" model. I also bought the Lightweight floor stand, which is the ONLY stand to get if you plan to use it outside where other stands sink into the ground.

Remo Festival 14" x 8" Small Pretuned Djembe - Constellation Purple finish Review

Remo Festival 14 x 8 Small Pretuned Djembe - Constellation Purple finish
Average Reviews:

I facilitate local drum circles, and I am always looking to add new and interesting instruments (voices) to my percussion collection--especially those that allow children to participate without worry. While browsing on Amazon, I encountered this little version of the Festival djembe. Being an astronomy buff as well as a drummer, I just had to smile at a drum that had an artsy Constellation pattern...a snazzy splash of an idealized star map....a product that married my two loves into one with a color that rocks: purple! How cool is that! This well-made instrument can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. However, adults with large hands will find this little guy quite small, perhaps too small for comfortable. lengthy jamming. (For adults: think large Festival Djembe--you may even be able to find the large with the same color / pattern. Seems like I encountered a red one in my journeys in Amazon.)
Remo products are very much celebrated in percussion / drum healing-therapy circles, and they have inspired people to enter drum world / community. [Their sound shapes products ae great for small children too!] I am a fan of Remo and their products.
This Constellation drum has a sturdy, adjustable carrying strap that is really helpful when I need to move or take the instrument. To me, the drum isn't heavy. Notice though that there is often a relationship between small height and the playing surface--diameter of head. [Size can matter for some, especially when it comes to the instruments voice! :) ] Some customers may prefer an earthy "world / African style" djembe made from purely natural products--such as goat skin heads and wood bodies. In my research, I noticed several sellers encouraging buyers who want fully natural products to look for companies who only take materials from "legally harvested, sustainable forests." A net search for "earth friendly djembe" or "environmental djembe" can bring the info to those who wish to know more.
According to the tag that came on this drum, the Acousticon drumshells are made with 100% Recycled Wood Fiber, and the product is said to be "Made in the USA." The company states that their drums are "Durable, Portable, Playable, and Sustainable." The little card also contains some other cool Eco facts about the company's efforts to be socially and environmentally responsible. These facts made me feel additionally good about this purchase.
I like the Remo drum and its FiberSkin & Acousticon material. The drum seems to have a distinct, pleasant, bright "voice" that inspires joy and dance. Its voice is different though from the world / African style djembes. So, before buying any instrument, do a bit of research to select the sound and style you like best. Remo's own product website can be helpful. The Amazon seller X8 Drums is also a fantastic source for those who wish to learn more about certain instruments; their website contains videos that show folks how to hold and play djembes.
This little Constellation drum makes a great addition to a drum circle, a team-building workshop, a classroom, homeschool, or play room. Take it on vacation, to camp, to the beach, to Grandma's! It would make a fun, unusual gift---especially for Christmas, birthday, or graduation.

I don't know much about drums or djembes in particular, but I purchased this item for someone who loves the sound of drumming. The size is great, the decorations are cool, and the sound is deep. The price can't be beat compared to other online vendors. I would definitely recommend this product.

Remo 25" x 14" Tunable Djembe, Kinte Kloth Design Review

Remo 25 x 14 Tunable Djembe, Kinte Kloth Design
Average Reviews:

I bought this exact Remo 14" Djembe drum used from my local drum shop. The finish on mine is also the same as photo " Kinte Kloth " and that was the feature that got me to buy it, the first time I saw it. The pattern gives it a really cool West African look, as I understand it each tribe uses a different pattern and combination of colors, like how the clans in Scotland each use a different Tartan. The sound is awesome, no weird buzzing or rattles, it is " tight as a drum " ! I am still very much a beginner even after a year, proper technique really takes some work and it is very easy to think that the Djembe is a simple instrument but to master it is no joke.
Another cool thing about it is that the weather won't affect it like one made from wood and goat skin. Tuning is easy, after a while many things can cause the drum head to get loose, just add small turns on the adjusters, going from one side to the other, a little bit at a time till it sounds and feels snappy and alive. The head is made from a product that really looks and feels like real goat skin, without all the ropes to loosen and tighten all the time. In defense of the wooden/goat skin Djembes, if you have the money and can deal with the inconsistencies and tuning, if it was made by a good craftsmen, then a bigger, better sound cannot be found any where else, wood is the best sound. But for anything other than studio recording or playing professionally, the Remo Djembe is more drum than anyone should need for jamming, drum circles, home use, etc., Check one out and you will be happy ! Good Luck and Practice, Practice, Practice !!! WaterRabbit aka Joseph W., Cape Cod, MA, USA

Remo Djembe Drum - Key Tuned (14 Inch, Earth Finish) Review

Remo Djembe Drum - Key Tuned (14 Inch, Earth Finish)
Average Reviews:

I have been a drummer for the past 10 years, but have just recently gained an interest in hand percussion. I knew that I wanted a djembe, because of the portability and wide range of sounds they can produce. After searching the internet and reading around I found that Remo's line of djembes would best suit my needs. They are extremely durable, do not require difficult rope tuning (they are key tuned), and sound quite close to traditional djembes. Upon receiving my drum I must admit that I am very pleased. Everything I read about the drum is correct. The earth finish is very nice and has a bit of a texture to it, which I find helpful for holding the drum between my legs. I wanted to get the 14in in order to have a lot of bass, and this drum certainly isn't lacking that. It is quite big, however. The drum is very wide and fairly tall, I probably wouldn't recommend it for smaller users. I am an average sized guy, 6'00'' 150 lbs, and the drum is a good size for me. I am no expert, but the drum sounds very nice. Bass tones are rich and full, and the higher pitched sounds are produced with ease. I am very very happy with this drum, it is a blast to play, and is well worth the $200 I paid for it.
