(More customer reviews)I was looking for a pretty good size unit rack for equipment. I needed it for use at home only, so that when we had very large get-togethers, we can have music, a PA system, and karaoke with DVD and flat screen monitor. I was building this from the ground up. While I had searched for unit racks, I noticed that the prices were outrageous. Most equivalent to this were over $400. As I looked at this, I thought the pictures looked great, so I ordered it.
I noticed that the shipping cost was really high, and finally knew why when it was delivered. It is extremely heavy, and I felt sorry for the short FedEx delivery guy who parked across the street instead of in front of our house. The little guy struggled every step of the way as he carried it to my door. I moved it to the garage and started to put it together.
I managed to put this unit together, but ran into several difficulties along the way. Here is a list of this unit racks pro and cons.
CONS.
1. This unit rack is extremely heavy, even when it is empty. I would never attempt lifting with handles if full of equipment.
2. It is made in China (self explanatory) Every shortcut was taken in manufacturing process.
3. Easily damaged during shipping, even with it doubled boxed.
4. Instructions aren't well defined and details are left out.
5. May take 2 people to put together.
6. All screws are very low quality and most strip out or the head snaps off. I recommend buying high quality screws before putting together.
7. Wheels are very low quality. I recommend buying higher quality replacements to use.
8. There is no packing list.
9. Not sturdy enough for constant transporting. I recommend using at one location only.
10. Top/cover section is slightly larger than lower section, hardware slightly off and visibly defective when completely put together or closed up.
PROS.
1. Nice color carpet.
2. Flaws are hard to see in dim lighting conditions.
3. Unit has plenty of storage for units.
4. Unit impresses people who have no knowledge of unit rack market, younger people, people with limited money. If you are buying this to use at home only, then it is ideal. If you are looking for a unit rack than can be used to transport equipment with, then this is not for you. If you do buy this unit, be patient and use 2 people to assemble. It is definitely a good idea to purchase high quality wheels and screws to use when you assemble the unit. If you do this, then you have upgraded this unit and reduced the aggravation associated with faulty/defective screws. Trust me, you should do this. With the unit completely assembled, you may be okay with it's quality. Just remember this, "you get what you pay for". Another thing you can do is to use the dimensions of the boards and make a new, more durable unit, and then carpet it. You will have all the hardware to do this if you re-use the hardware on this unit rack. (only do this when the unit has exceeded it's life and becomes too wobbly)
