(More customer reviews)I am writing this review primarily because I could not track down reviews on this product other than the one review already posted on Amazon, which for me wasn't entirely helpful. We have about 4 parties a year and had decided to start putting together our own dj system. I am not a professional dj and my expertise only lies in the house parties that we host, but it does not take an expert to notice when your system is sounding good, so please take this review with that in account.
I run a Gemini CDM-3700G mixer with two Gemini RS-415 Powered Speakers, with assorted lights, foggers and a bubble machine. We put on a decent show, but I was really interested in adding more "boom" into the system. So, I went out on a limb a picked up two of Gemini's GVX sub's. I connected each sub to the mixer with the XLR Balanced connectors and daisy chained the RS-415 off of each sub.
I could not be more happy with the added power. There is a substantial improvement to the low (bass) sound and my RS-415's do not need to be pushed too hard to get the low sound out of them. I have run this setup several times now and push the subs hard, but its hard to get the subs at clip levels, which is a good thing. These subs are equipped with a limiter indicator (green light), which I worried about in the begining, because the instructions state that in normal operation this light will flicker on and off, but remain constantly on when the volume is to loud. But in fact as soon as you turn up the volume, the indicator immediatly turns on, with only a little noticable flickering. It is probably just the wording in the instructions, but the light remains on constant with flickering from dim to bright and never really flickers on and off as the instructions state. The enclosure (cabinet?) is sturdy and supports my RS-415's on pole mounts without any problems. What kept these subs from getting 5/5 was only that I can hear some minor creeking from the subs when they are really booming.
So, in review these subs pack quite a punch, they definitely made dramatic improvement to the sound, and are reasonably priced. Most people would think of getting just one and then connecting two speakers to the one sub (which I have tried and it does sound good), but I would recommend springing for two, the sound is so much better.
